Aye, 'twas a grand one. Much whisky and other spirits were drunk from hip flasks. The crowds wre a bit manic, but that was to be expected for a saturday (and the 400 anniversary). We saw Ben at bonfire prayers, and Mike and co at commercial square did a great job with the fireworks display, really smashing. It was a much needed break from my PhD thesis hell I am in at the moment. Chris
CSBS got a professional company to produce a DVD this year so you'll be able to see it eventually.
Unfortunately I don't think they managed to capture the moment at bonfire prayers when I accepted a swig from every single hip flask offered (on top of the bottle of port I'd recently finished off), nor the moment when Lewes started to lurch precariously from side to side some 20 minutes later, nor the moment when the fire stopped burning and started swimming. And I'm particularly disappointed that they didn't manage to film me making it home, because I'd like to know how I got there.

We saw a pretty realistic looking *huge* wooden model of the Palace of Westminster burnt down in Victoria Park.
JH.
How delightfully ironic!
Sounds like a terrorism training seminar. Police should have locked you up just in case.

An appropriate end to a great celebration though.
